Last year, Lollapalooza fans were treated to an awesome lineup which included headliners The Cure, Mumford & Sons, and The Killers. Will the 2014 lineup be able to top that?
Lollapalooza veterans Kings of Leon are rumored to make their 4th appearance. The Chicago Tribune reports that KOL are set to headline the festival, along with Skrillex, Eminem and the Arctic Monkeys.
Reinforcing this rumor, a TravelGrom reader tipped us off early in March and said “Justin Timberlake and KOL will definitely be at Lolla. I spoke with KOL’s manager at their Kansas City show, and he confirmed their appearance.”
Only time will tell if the rumors are true, but so far it looks promising.

OutKast
OutKast made headlines when the Coachella lineup was announced back in January. Fans across southern California rejoiced; April will be the first time anyone has seen OutKast play live in 10 years. But when the Bonnaroo lineup was announced two months later, many were shocked to see OutKast missing from the poster.
Will Chicago be graced by the presence of the ATLiens in August? One good indicator that points to Outkast playing Lollapalooza 2014 is their scheduled appearance at Drake’s OVO Fest in Toronto on Sunday August 3rd, the last day of Lolla. Theoretically, they’ll play Lollapalooza Friday, fly out to Toronto, and then finish their summer tour in Europe.

Arctic Monkeys
The Arctic Monkeys last played Lolla in 2011, meaning they’re just about due for another appearance. The band is currently touring the US promoting their 5th album AM and a Chicago date is mysteriously absent.
The Arctic Monkeys are on the festival circuit and have already committed to playing Bonnaroo in June and the Squamish Valley Music Festival the weekend following Lolla, so a spot on the Lolla 2014 lineup is very likely!

Kanye West or Justin Timberlake
Kanye hasn’t played his hometown festival since 2008 when he was the closing night headliner, and JT has long been rumored, but never played. Although the Yeezus tour came through Chicago’s United Center back in December, and JT played two shows at United in February, either of these superstars’ names have been buzzing around internet forums as a Lolla 2014 headliner.
JT’s tour has a gap between his July 31st show in Kansas City and August 3rd show in New Orleans, which means he theoretically could be a Friday or Saturday night headliner.
Likewise, Kanye is playing the Fuji Rock festival in Japan the weekend prior to Lolla, and has nothing scheduled the weekend following Lollapalooza.

This list is totally inaccurate, half those artists in bold are already confirmed for osheaga in Montreal Which is the Same days as lolla. (http://www.osheaga.com)
Montreal is an overnight drive from Chicago. It’s very common for bands to play two festivals or shows in the same weekend. In fact, if a band is playing Osheaga, then it’s likely they’re playing Lolla as well.

I’ve heard some rumors of Pearl Jam being a possibility as well. It makes sense….they haven’t played Lolla since 2007, new album, and it gives Lolla that “older” group to throw into the lineup. I know they played in Chicago last summer but do you think they would be a possibility?
I’ve heard the same rumors, and someone emailed me saying the same thing, but I don’t want to say anything until I see more proof. Definitely a possibility though considering their European tour ends in late July.
A lot of these artists can’t play at Lolla because of other festivals they’re already playing at this summer. The Glitch Mob can’t play, for example, because they are already at Electric Forest. Lollapalooza’s proximity clause this year states that an artist playing at Lolla cannot play within 300 miles of the festival grounds less than 6 months before or 3 months after. Expect the artists that can’t play at North Coast. Meanwhile, unless there’s a source I can’t believe anything else.
The proximity clause does not apply to all the artists only the headliners.
RHCP played Allstate Arena on 5/28 and still headlined Lolla in 2012 so this clearly is not the law of the land anymore.
Your list is missing CHVRCHES
In the case of the proximity clause, then OutKast WILL NOT be at Lollapalooza due to the fact they are at Summerfest.
Lolla has not to date enforced the proximity clause in any case. It only exists to guard against malicious scheduling that attempts to capitalize on the “lolla brand”.
Hi. I’ve read of the possibility of Daft Punk, Lana del Rey, Emely Sandé, Of Monsters & Men, Kings of Leon performing this year… Any word on them?
My wishful thinking is that Grace Potter perform this year. I’ve read nothing on that, but I think it’d rock…

A reader wrote to me and said that KOL Manager told him that Kings of Leon would be at Lolla. Daft Punk is not going to happen. Neither is Of Monsters and Men, they played two years ago haven’t released any new songs since.
KOL is a possibility!

Daft Punk have only toured twice in their career, in 1997 and 2007, so there is literally zero chance they will perform anywhere time soon. And once they do announce something, good luck buying the $2000-plus tix

You should take out the artists that were just announced (as the second round of artists) for Pitchfork – Cloud Nothings, St. Vincent, Danny Brown, Schoolboy Q, etc. no longer eligible for Lolla.
@Gracious. Emili Sandi and Lana Del Rey both played Lolla in 2013, Lana actually headlined. They are not going to be at Lolla 2014.
